Blood-Brain-Barrier-Targeted Antimicrobial Peptide Shows Activity in Meningitis Models

A new Scientific Reports study describes a chimeric antimicrobial peptide designed to cross an experimental bloodbrain barrier. The candidate reduced brain bacterial burden and improved survival in a mouse meningococcalinfection model, but remains an early preclinical proof of concept.
